Pokémon TCG Pocket C1 expansion: teaser and what we know

The C1 expansion has been announced for Pokémon TCG Pocket and is currently set for late October 2026, although the exact date has not been confirmed. Even with limited information so far, the revealed details already point to two major additions: the debut of Pokémon with two types at once and the return of starter Pokémon as Pokémon ex.

Dual-typing arrives for the first time in TCG Pocket

In the mainline video games, many Pokémon naturally have more than one type. In Pokémon TCG Pocket, however, each card has normally used just one of those types depending on the print. That will change in C1.

For the first time in TCG Pocket — and also for the first time in the TCG since 2016 — some Pokémon will carry two different types simultaneously. The example mentioned so far is Mewtwo ex.

That change could matter a lot in actual matches. A dual-type Pokémon will be able to:

• hit two different types of weakness, depending on the matchup;
• benefit from type-specific boosting cards for two types, creating more deckbuilding options.

This mechanic opens up new combinations compared to earlier versions of the app. Full gameplay details have not been shown yet, but simply having two types suggests fresh options for coverage, synergy, and matchup planning.

Starter Pokémon ex return in C1

The other big point confirmed for C1 is the return of starter Pokémon as Pokémon ex. According to the available information, this is the first time that idea has come back since Pikachu ex from Genetic Apex and Shining Revelry, and Eevee ex from Eevee Grove.

These cards follow the familiar pattern of basic Pokémon ex that belong to the first stage of an evolution line but enter play at full strength. In practice, that means they appear with:

• higher HP;
• stronger attacks;
• no need to evolve first in order to reach that power level.

There is still an important restriction. Unless the card explicitly says otherwise, or another effect allows it, these Pokémon cannot evolve into a later stage. The example given is Eevee ex with Veevee ’volve, showing that an exception has to be written into the card or enabled by another effect.

What to expect from C1

Even without a full card list or an exact release day, C1 already looks like an important set for the Pokémon TCG Pocket metagame. The mix of dual-typing and powerful basic Pokémon ex could change how decks are built and how players cover weaknesses in competitive play.

For now, the key confirmed points are straightforward:

1. C1 is planned for late October 2026;
2. the exact release date is still unknown;
3. the set will introduce dual-type Pokémon;
